In 2006, a plan involving the preservation of thirty-six houses from the Templar colony in Tel-Aviv, and reconstruction of their periodic image, was approved. In order to expand Kaplan St. road, five Templar buildings were displaced to a new location by a complicated engineering operation. The Sarona complex now serves as a cultural, recreational and shopping center, and in its heart is a tourist center that tells the vicissitude history of the site and its significance as a National Legacy Site.
